Tigers fall to No. 14 Washington and Lee

Washington and Lee University scored nine consecutive goals to open the second half, turning a 4-2 deficit into an 11-4 lead, and the 14th-ranked Generals hung on for a 13-9 victory over the Tigers on Saturday morning in Swarthmore, Pa.

Colorado College (10-4) outscored the Generals, 5-2, down the stretch, getting a pair of scores from senior midfielder Ali Zarlengo and sophomore midfielder Claire Preston, but W&L held on for the four-goal victory.

Kristin Rider also found the net twice, while junior defender Maggie Defanti, senior attacker Alexa Dougherty and junior attacker Holly McHugh chipped in one goal apiece.

Colleen Evans had three goals to pace the Generals, while Katie Flippen netted two goals and dished out one assist.

Senior Jess Van Doren played 56:32 between the pipes and registered nine saves, while junior Valerie Cranmer played 3:28 and recorded two saves.

Colorado College concludes its three-game road trip at Cabrini College on Sunday.
