Gangl lifts CC past Wittenberg in overtime

Brendan Gangl scored with 29 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Colorado College men's lacrosse team an 11-10 victory over Wittenberg University on Sunday afternoon. 

Gangl notched the third game-winning goal of his career after taking a pass from Hunter Sprole.

CC built a 10-8 lead with 3:23 remaining in regulation after Gangl, Chris Quon and Carson Christman all scored in a span of 3:24, but Wittenber struck twice in the final three minutes and tied the game on a goal by Ted Winders with 1:37 to play.

Brendan Haas made a career-high 16 saves, including 10 in the first half as Colorado College took a 5-2 lead.

Matt Snider found the net four times in the third period when Wittenberg used a 5-1 run to grab a 7-6 lead.

Chris Colligan tied the game 10 seconds into the fourth quarter, but WU took its final lead of the game on a goal by Mitch Cohagan with 10:08 remaining in regulation.  

Toby Cohen and Christman had two goals and an assist to pace CC. Gangl scored twice, while Sprole added one score in addition to setting up Gangl's game winner. Michael McGeary scored once had had a game-high seven ground balls.

Mark DeOliveira had 12 saves for Wittenberg.

CC evened its record at 6-6 while WU dropped to 7-4.

Colorado College plays host to Hendrix College and Sewanee next Friday and Sunday, respectively, at Washburn Field.
