Katherine 'Kat' Michaels, who recently completed her award-winning playing career at Washington & Lee University, has been named assistant women's lacrosse coach, head coach
Susan Stuart announced.
“I am excited to have someone of Kat's caliber come to Colorado College to help with the program,” Stuart said. “Her accolades tell of her great skill and her leadership ability will also be a key factor in our success.”
Michaels adds a wealth of experience from a four-year playing career with the Generals during which she won nearly every award possible.
Following her senior season, Michaels was named a first-team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and U.S. Lacrosse as well as the Division III Defender of the Year. She earned third-team All-America honors during her junior season in 2007.
Michaels was named to the all-Old Dominion Athletic Conference first team during her junior and senior seasons and earned on spot on the ODAC all-tournament squad for three consecutive campaigns.
Michaels graduated magna cum laude in 2008 with a degree in commerce and received the university's Pres Brown Award that year as the Most Valuable Female Athlete. She also earned a spot on the IWLCA Honor Roll three years in a row.
Her coaching experience includes serving as an assistant with the Aspen Lacrosse Club and teaching defense position and strategy at VIP lacrosse camps and clinics at Washington and Lee.
Michaels also will serve as supervisor of the Carle Weight Room.
