Tigers fall at No. 11 Denison

Colorado College saw its five-game winning streak come to an end with a 17-9 loss at No. 11 Denison University on Friday night.

The Big Red scored six consecutive goals midway through the second half to build a 15-7 lead and the Tigers never recovered.

CC grabbed an early lead after Carson Christman struck twice during the opening 3:03 and Hunter Sprole scored 45 seconds later, but Denison answered with four consecutive goals to take a one-goal lead after 15 minutes.

Moses Taylor tied the game with the first of his three goals 59 seconds into the second quarter, and after Emmett Jones put the Big Red back in front 24 seconds later, Brendan Gangl knotted the score with 10:10 remaining in the first half.

Denison took the lead four good with four consecutive goals during a span of 4:01 late in the second quarter.

Taylor scored with 1:04 to go in the first half and 3:32 into the third quarter to cut DU's lead to 9-7, but the Big Red took control midway through the second half when they scored six straight goals to take an eight-goal lead with just under seven minutes to play.

James Mauk struck for a pair of goals during the final 6:17 to close out the scoring for CC.

Brendan Haas made 14 saves for the Tigers, who were outshot by a 46-30 margin.

Greg Shannon stopped six shots for Denison.

Corey Couture had four goals and four assists for DU, while Brady Burton had four scores.

The Big Red improved to 8-2, while CC slipped to 9-2.
Colorado College plays the last of four consecutive games in Ohio on Sunday when the Tigers travel to Wittenberg University.
