CC falls by one goal at No. 3 Dickinson

Box Score Nick Leon scored the deciding goal with 40 seconds remaining in the game to give No. 3 Dickinson College an 11-10 victory over Colorado College on a blustery Friday night at DC's Biddle Field.

The Red Devils appeared to be in complete control when they took an 8-3 lead on the first of three markers by Leon with 4:25 remaining in the first half.

Determined not to let the opportunity of playing another top-ranked team go to waste, the Tigers turned in a dominating performance in the third period and tied the game at 8-8 when junior midfielder Jack Kreitler scored with 1:30 to play.

Sophomore midfielder Henri Halle started the comeback with a man-up goal midway through the stanza. Freshman midfielder Eric Neumeyer and junior midfielder Will Harris struck just seven seconds apart to cut CC's deficit to 8-6, and sophomore midfielder  Taylor Paul made it a one-goal affair with 3:31 on the clock.

Dickinson took a two-goal lead when Tyler White and Parker Waldron scored in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, but freshman goaltender Chase Murphy stopped the next four shots to keep the Tigers within striking distance.

Colorado College pulled to within 10-9 when junior attacker Tyler Allen found the net midway through the fourth quarter, and senior attacker Steve Rijo notched the equalizer off a feed from Kreitler with 2:42 to go.

The Tigers stopped the Red Devils on their next possession, but the home team escaped with the victory when Leon scored in the final minute.

Murphy matched his season high with 16 saves, the fifth time this season he has turned aside double-digit shots.

Junior long-stick middle P.J. Higgins caused a pair of turnovers, while Harris and Rijo each grabbed a team-high four ground balls.
Allen, Kreitler and Rijo each struck for two goals and an assist.

Greg Hanley had seven saves for Dickinson, which got three caused turnovers and six ground balls from Peter Zouck.

Colorado College (5-3) wraps up its four-game East Coast road trip on Sunday against Marymount University in Arlington, Va.
