Box Score Senior goalkeeper Abby Fink made nine of her 13 saves in the first half and senior attacker Ellie Cole scored her team's final three goals to lead Colorado College to an 11-8 victory over Pacific University on Monday afternoon at Washburn Field.

Fink was stellar during the game's opening minutes, stopping four Boxer shots and causing a turnover while waiting for the Tigers' offense to get revved up.

After falling behind 1-0 on a goal by Colorado Springs native Kelly Stevens 8:36 into the contest, CC erupted for four goals in a little more than five minutes to take a lead it would not give up.

Junior midfielder Elise Burchard had a goal and two assists, while junior attacker Madeline Scherer found scored once and set up a tally by senior attacker Frances Staadt to help the Tigers open a 4-1 lead.

Staadt added a second marker with 7:52 remaining in the first half and Cole struck for her first goal 1:12 later to give Colorado College a five-point lead for the first time.  

Trailing 7-2 at the break, Pacific used a man-up goal by Stevens 44 seconds into the second half to build some momentum and the Boxers added two of the next three scored to pull to within 8-5 with 20:20 to play.

Cole's second marker slowed Pacific's comeback temporarily, but the visitors answered with tallies by sophomore attacker Amy Mayhugh and senior midfielder Kaitlyn Harper to cut CC's lead to 9-7 with 11:40 still on the clock.

The Tigers got an insurance goal with 7:03 remaining when Cole buried a feed from senior midfielder Ginna Oates, and then put the game out of reach when Cole struck for her final goal on the rebound of a shot by freshman midfielder Madison Merrill.

Harper closed out the scoring with her third goal with 2:17 to play.

Senior Brittany Hartmann made six of her seven saves during the second half to give Pacific the chance to come back.

The Boxers finished with a 23-21 edge in total shots, while CC held a 12-9 advantage in draw controls. Both teams grabbed 28 ground balls.

Burchard finished with two goals and two assists for a season-high four points.

Senior defender Nancy Makuch caused three turnovers, while sophomore midfielder Leigh Nicholl had four draw controls for the Tigers.

In addition to her three goals, Stevens recorded seven draw controls, two ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

Colorado College (1-6) plays host to MIT on Tuesday at 4 p.m. on Stewart Field.
