Madeline Scherer struck for a career-high six goals, while defender
Sheridan Gribbon caused four turnovers and grabbed five ground balls to lead CC to a 17-7 victory over Morrisville State College at Stewart Field.

After a slow start by the Tigers offensively, Scherer put them ahead 3-2 with a free-position goal midway through the first half. Fellow senior
Iris Rayburn came off the bench to notch back-to-back tallies in a span of 44 seconds, and Maddie Pitkin capped a 4-0 run with the first of her two tallies with 8:56 remaining.Â

Shelby Wood, who became Morrisville State's career points leader with the first marker of the game, answered with two of her three goals to cut MSC's deficit to 6-4, but
Leigh Nicholl and
Sadie Cole found the cage during the final 3:14 to give Colorado College an 8-4 lead after 30 minutes.

Two more tallies by Scherer stretched the Tigers' advantage to 10-4, and after Paige Biviano got one back for the Mustangs, CC struck for seven consecutive goals to build a 17-5 cushion with 10:17 to play.

Rayburn tied her career high with three goals, while Pitkin and
Sadie Cole each added a pair.

Colleen Orr recorded two assists apiece.Â

Colorado College launched 35 shots, compared to only 17 for Morrisville State. The Tigers also finished with a 25-17 advantage in ground balls.
