Box Score The ninth-ranked Colorado College volleyball team received some divine intervention Friday evening as it came from behind to beat No. 19 the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in a grueling 3-2 victory during the Pikes Peak Challenge in Reid arena.
 
The Tigers have had a rough week as head coach 
Rick Swan's mother passed away earlier on Friday morning.
 
"I think we had some divine intervention tonight," said Swan. "It's been a rough week with me missing practice all week, but the team worked hard and came up with an important win in set four after coming from behind."
 
The Titans held a 17-12 lead midway through the fourth set, but a kill by freshman 
Myca Steffey-Bean ignited a 4-0 run to pull within a point.
 
CC remained within reach as Wisconsin-Oshkosh had set point at 24-23 after a kill by Nerissa Vogt. The teams traded points and were tied at 26-26, but the Titans mishandled set and later an attack error would give the Tigers the 28-26 victory to knot the match.
 
CC ignited to an 8-1 run in the fifth set, but UWO rallied back to take a 14-13 lead for match point. Junior 
Abbe Holtze tied the match at 14-14 with a kill and another ball handling error by the Titans gave the Tigers match point.
 
Sophomore 
Glenna Yancey sealed the win with a kill down the middle.    
 
Holtze, who led the team with 16 kills and added 11 digs and three blocks on defense, helped CC improve to 17-1 this season.
 
Freshman 
Aria Dudley added 10 kills, while senior 
Courtney Birkett and Steffey-Bean contributed with nine kills apiece.
 
CC ignited to an early 6-0 lead in the first set off of a strong serving run by sophomore 
Sarah Barker. Wisconsin-Oshkosh pulled to within a point at 13-12, but another serving run by Barker gave the Tigers a 17-12 lead.
 
CC finished the set on a 7-0 run served up by junior Abbie Holtze to give the Tigers a 24-14 lead. An attack error by the Titans handed CC the first set.
 
Wisconsin-Oshkosh, which dropped to 14-5 this season, came back in the second and third set with a pair of 25-18 victories after keeping CC struggling offensively.
 
Senior 
Sophie Merrifield led the defense with 28 digs. Steffey-Bean picked up a team-high six blocks to also aid with the defense.
 
Colorado College returns to action against No. 15 Elmhurst College at 10 a.m. and Cornell College at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Reid Arena.
