Box Score 2 The eighth-ranked Colorado College volleyball team earned the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season crown after beating Trinity University and Texas Lutheran University during the SCAC Cross-Divisional Matches, Saturday in Reid Arena.

The Tigers became the first undefeated team with a 14-0 record to win the regular-season championship, since Southwestern University finished with a 14-0 record back in 2009. CC's best conference marks were back in 2010 with a 14-1 record and 2011 with a 13-1 record.

"We're very proud of our team. The chemistry that they have is super and they've been so supportive of each other," said head coach
Rick Swan. "That's why they get rewarded. They stick together and they work hard. They support each other on and off the court."

This is the third time the Tigers have won the outright championship, winning it previously in 2010 and 2011. CC also shared the title in 2012 with Trinity.

"Our conference is really talented," said Swan. "The improvement of all the teams over the last two months has been amazing. There are no easy matches. You have to come ready to play against every team."

Not only did Colorado College earn its best conference finish in 2015, the Tigers also earned its best record thus far with a 29-2 record. CC's best mark through 31 games was a 28-3 record in 2013, when it went on to finish the season with a 35-5 record.

"The depth on this team has been unbelievable. The hardest thing for me is to figure out who is going to start and who is going to play," Swan said. "We're real fortunate because our depth has made us as strong as we are."

Senior
Courtney Birkett composed the Tigers' offense tying her career-high 33 assists in a 25-17, 25-23, 24-26, 25-23 victory over Trinity. Birkett also earned 10 kills and 10 digs to earn her seventh triple-double of the season.

Junior
Abbe Holtze led the offense with 18 kills and added 13 digs for her 13th double-double of the season. Junior
Rebecca Watson also earned a double-double with 19 assists and a career-high 14 digs for her second double-double of the season.

Senior
Sophie Merrifield led the back row with a season-high 32 digs, while senior
Kaimara Herron and freshman
Myca Steffey-Bean each added five blocks apiece at the net.

McQella Adams, Birkett, Herron and Merrifield were each recognized for their outstanding play on the court. Â

The Tigers swept the Bulldogs in three sets, 25-17, 25-19, 25-14 to close out conference play. CC held Texas Lutheran to a .035 attack percentage giving up only 28 kills in 115 attempts, while forcing the Bulldogs into 24 hitting errors.

Holtze led the offense once again with 10 kills, while Watson added a team-high 17 assists. Merrifield anchored the defense with 14 digs.

Colorado College finished playing at home with a perfect 16-0 record and will travel to Lakewood, Colo., to play Division II Colorado Christian University on Oct. 27.
