Box Score Sewanee scored six unanswered goals to break open a close game and goaltender Selby Austin kept Colorado College at bay for 45 minutes as the University of the South recorded an 11-5 victory in the season opener for both teams on Friday afternoon at Harris Stadium.

After freshman attackman Robert Stern cut Sewanee's lead to 3-1 midway through the second quarter, the hosts outscored CC, 6-0, until sophomore attackman Jack McCormick struck 1:56 into the fourth quarter.

Junior midfielder Ian Pelto, freshman attackman Sam Mathai and sophomore attackman Stephen Petersilge also scored for Colorado College.

George Bukawyn led Sewanee with five goals, while Peter Brown added four points on three goals and an assist.

Austin finished with nine saves for the host Tigers, while Browning Altizer added three more in 3:07 of action.

Junior goaltender Chase Murphy stopped 11 shots for CC.

Freshman midfielder Jackson Kaplan won 14 of 18 face-offs and grabbed a game-high six ground balls for the visitors.

Colorado College returns to action on Sunday against Centre College at 11 a.m. CT in Danville, Ky.
