Halle Fuels Tigers In Victory Over Centre

Box Score Colorado College will have a full day to enjoy its first victory of the season after defeating Centre College, 11-4, in a game that started at 9 a.m. MT.

Senior midfielder Henri Halle had no problem adjusting to the time change, scoring twice during the first quarter as the Tigers raced to a 4-0 lead. The senior midfielder put CC on the board 2:01 into the contest, and after freshman midfielder Hunter Henninger struck for his first collegiate goal with 5:32 remaining in the period, Halle added his second tally 1:27 later.

Senior midfielder Gray Ritger's marker made it 4-0 after 15 minutes, and then first-year attackman Sam Dardani notched what proved to be the game winner off a feed from sophomore attackman Jack McCormick midway through the second quarter.

The Colonels got on the board 51 seconds into the second half on a goal by junior midfielder Matt Hughes, but the Tigers answered with markers from junior Robert Prior and freshman Robert Stern to extend their lead to 7-1 with 10:40 remaining in the third quarter.

Sophomore midfielder Austin Zehnder trimmed Centre's deficit to five when he scored a little more than five minutes later, then junior attackman Joe Lencewicz struck for a pair of goals in a span of 92 seconds to pull his team to within three with 10:56 left on the clock.

Colorado College's defense dialed up the intensity during the final 12 minutes and allowed only two more shots.

At the opposite end of the field, the Tigers added goals by Ritger, Halle and a pair by sophomore attackman Austin Davie to close out the scoring.

CC recorded a 49-12 advantage in total shots and had the upper hand in ground balls by a 38-19 margin.

Junior goaltender Chase Murphy stopped three shots to earn his victory of the season.

Junior defender Tim Jenkins caused five turnovers and grabbed five ground balls to pace the Tiger defense, while first-year midfielder Jackson Kaplan won 10 of 15 face-offs and grabbed five ground balls.

Senior goaltender Bryce McCoy made 17 saves for the Colonel's.

Colorado College plays its home opener on Friday, Feb. 20, when Colorado State-Pueblo visits Washburn Field at 3 p.m.
