Fourth-Quarter Rally Lifts CC Over Mavericks

Box Score Colorado College struck six times during the final nine minutes to erase a two-goal deficit and pull away for a 13-9 victory at Colorado Mesa University on Saturday afternoon at Walker Field.

Trailing 9-7 midway through the fourth quarter, the Tigers tied the game with 7:40 to play on tallies by senior midfielder Gray Ritger and junior midfielder Eric Neumeyer.

Forty seconds later, sophomore attackman Austin Davie put CC ahead to stay with the first of his two goals.

Neumeyer added an insurance tally with 6:02 remaining, and then Davie and freshman attackman Sam Dardani closed out the scoring during the final 63 seconds.

After Colorado College took a 7-5 lead on Neumeyer's first marker 41 second into the second half, the Mavericks rattled off four consecutive goals to take a 9-7 lead after Daniel Caddoo scored for the fourth time with just over 11 minutes to go.

CMU also held a two-goal lead in the second quarter when Josh Russell made the score 5-3, but the Tigers answered with three straight tallies and took their first lead at 6-5 when Ritger struck for the second time with nine seconds to play before halftime.

Colorado College finished with a 38-33 edge in total shots and a 36-26 advantage in ground balls.

Neumeyer and Ritger finished with five points apiece on three goals and a pair of assists. Dardani added three tallies and set up one more.

Senior goaltender Jack Roos steered aside nine shots for the Tigers, who improved to 3-1.

Freshman midfielder Jackson Kaplan won 15 of 24 faceoffs and grabbed four ground balls.
