Box Score Freshman attacker Annie DeFrino scored a pair of goals, but Colorado College could not overcome 26 turnovers and dropped a 16-7 decision to Haverford College on Thursday afternoon at Washburn Field.

After DeFrino's second tally pulled the Tigers to within 6-3 with 6:49 remaining in the first half, the Fords struck for seven unanswered goals to build a 13-3 lead with 23:14 left on the clock.

Free-position tallies by senior midfielder Dylan Voneiff and sophomore midfielder Sadie Cole trimmed CC's deficit to eight midway through the second half, but the momentum didn't last long.

Haverford answered with markers from senior midfielder Diana Perry, junior midfielder Christina Gould and senior attacker Dayna Kim to lock up the victory.

Freshman attacker Steph Kelly and senior midfielder Maddy Pitkin found the net for Colorado College during the final 5:25.

The Tigers won 15 of 25 draw controls, but turnovers negated that advantage.

Kelly tied her season high with eight draw controls, while freshman defender Julia Tarantino led the Tigers with a season-high four ground balls.  

Junior goaltender Martha Smith made five saves for CC, which slipped to 3-3 on the season.

The Fords, who improved to 4-2, finished with a 30-13 advantage in total shots and a 24-12 edge in ground balls.

Perry recorded a career-high six goals for Haverford, while freshman midfielder Molly Lausten recorded three markers and a pair of assists.

Junior Megan Chenworth stopped three shots during almost 50 minutes in goal. First-year goaltender Rachel Romens made one save during the final 10:34.

The Tigers play host to Occidental College on Friday at 1 p.m.
