The Colorado College women's tennis team dominated Division II Colorado Christian Saturday night and defeated the Cougars 8-1 in Lakewood, Colo. With the victory, the Tigers improved to 3-5 overall and 1-2 this spring.
Â
CC opened the match by sweeping all three doubles matches. Sophomore
Fiona Cerf and freshman
Kendal McGinnis pulled out an 8-6 victory at the top spot over Paige Crews and Maddie Andersson, then junior
Maddie Cahill-Sanidas and sophomore
Natalia Dellavalle (No. 2) and freshmen Maddison Doerre and
Simone Hall (No. 3) each won their match 8-3.
Â
CC took four of its five singles victories in straight sets, with Cahill-Sanidas going the distance before topping Andersson, 6-1, 2-6, (10-3) at the No. 5 position. Cerf won a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 decision at the No. 1 spot over Crews.
Â
"Maddie and Natalia really set the tone for the match at No. 2 doubles," head coach
Anthony Weber said. "They were smothering the court and transitioning between defense and offense seamlessly.
Simone Hall did a great job in singles keeping her shots deep and served well."
Â
The Tigers will host Metro State University on Sunday, Feb. 28 at Lifetime Fitness in Colorado Springs. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.Â
