Box Score Colorado College continued to fire on all cylinders and cruised past Linfield College, 22-2, for its second victory of the day in the heart Oregon's wine country southwest of Portland.
Sophomore attacker
Annie DeFrino struck for a career-high seven goals and matched her best of nine points as the Tigers improved to 10-2 with their fifth consecutive triumph.
DeFrino took over the team lead with 38 goals, three more than sophomore attacker
Steph Kelly.
Freshman attacker
Emily Carlson and sophomore attacker Kelly each finished with three markers and a pair of assists.
Kelly added 16 draw controls and surpassed the century mark for the second year in a row.
Junior midfielder
Mary Taussig scored three times and became the 11th Tiger to score 100 or more career goals when she found the net 1:49 into the contest.
A little less than two minutes later, junior midfielder
Sadie Cole struck for what proved to be her third game-winning tally of the season.
The most exciting sequence of the game occurred midway through the second half when the Tigers played without a goaltender for almost two minutes while Taussig and junior attacker
Lily Benjamin exchanged equipment as play continued.
Prior to that,
Martha Smith stopped the only two shots the Wildcats put on goal during the first half. It marked the fifth time in the last three years that CC's senior goaltender did not allow when she played at least 30 minutes.
Junior attacker Amber Kaholoaa broke up the shutout a little more than nine minutes into the second half and freshman midfielder Mae Seifert added a second goal for Linfield with 5:35 to play.
The Tigers, who won 18 of 25 draw controls, finished the game with a 46-6 advantage in total shots and a 25-9 difference in ground balls.
Sophomore midfielder
Julia Tarantino led CC's defensive effort with three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls.
Sophomore goalkeeper Rebecca Kimball stopped 13 shots for the Wildcats, who dropped to 0-12.
Colorado College completes its three-game swing through Oregon on Friday afternoon when the Tigers visit George Fox University at 5 p.m. PT.
