Box Score Colorado College tuned up for Sunday's West-Region showdown with Augustana College by sailing to a 24-6 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on a rainy Saturday afternoon in western Illinois.
Steph Kelly was a force all over the field as the Tigers improved to 12-2 with their seventh consecutive victory.
The junior attacker recorded career highs of six goals, four assists and 10 points to help CC reach the 20-goal mark for the fourth game in a row and the sixth time this season.
Kelly finished the game with a team-leading 76 points, which ranks third on the program's single-season list. She is only eight points away from Mary Everett's school record of 84 set in 1999.
Junior attacker
Lily Benjamin and junior midfielder
Mary Taussig finished with five goals apiece for Colorado College, while
Sadie Cole struck for three markers and set up three more.
Taussig become eighth Tigers to record 150 or more career points and is tied with Mallory Newton (2005-08). She also finished the game with 111 career goals, which ranks ninth in program history.
Tallies by Taussig and Kelly gave CC a 2-0 lead 1:31 into the game. The Falcons got on the board when senior attacker Sabrina Boehike scored the first of her two goals, but Colorado College got that one back when Benjamin struck for the first time a little more than seven minutes later.
The Tigers began to get some separation when Kelly, Cole and Benjamin scored in a span of 23 seconds, giving CC a 6-1 lead with 17:01 to play in the first half.
CUW used tallies by sophomore midfielder Allison Kurek and sophomore midfielder Caitlin Henry to pull to within 8-5, but Colorado College struck for six of the next seven markers to build a 14-4 cushion after 30 minutes.
Any thoughts of a comeback by the Falcons were doused when the Tigers scored the first four goals of the second half.
CC won 25 of 31 draw controls and finished with a 47-12 advantage in total shots.
Kelly recorded a game-high 11 draw controls, the seventh time this season she has finished in double figures.
Taussig led Colorado College with four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Junior goaltender Veronika Metanova made 13 saves for the Falcons, who slipped to 13-2.
