Box Score 2 Colorado College overcame a five-point deficit in the fifth set to defeat No. 5 Southwestern University 25-22, 22-25, 11-25, 25-17, 15-13 in Sunday's first match at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference cross-divisional.

In its fourth and final match of the weekend, CC overcame an early challenge from host Texas Lutheran University to post a 25-22, 22-25, 25-8, 25-18 victory.

The second-ranked Tigers improved to 18-0 and set the program record for consecutive wins to begin a season. The previous mark of 17 was set in 2013 when Colorado College finished with a ledger of 35-5 and advanced to the regional final of the NCAA Tournament.

CC's winning streak was in serious jeopardy when the Tigers trailed Southwestern 10-5 in the fifth set after a kill by senior middle hitter Piper Sizemore. However, junior right side hitter
Aria Dudley put down three kills during a 7-0 run that give the Tigers a 12-10 lead.

The Pirates tied the game on a pair of Colorado College ball-handling errors, but CC re-gained the lead when SU put a serve in the net. Then sophomore outside hitter
Jordan Mullen smashed two kills as the Tigers scored two of the next three points to earn their third five-set victory of the season.Â

Haley Harris posted her third double-double of the season with a team-high 15 kills and 12 digs.

Marguerite Spaethling and Mullen finished with 10 apiece.

Lizzy Counts hit a season-best .636 with seven kills on 11 attacks without an error. She also dished out 45 assists and had 14 digs.

Senior right side hitter Kate Mitchell led the Pirates with a match-high 18 kills, while junior libero Brandi Campos recorded a match-high 24 digs

Junior outside hitter Jamison Duck recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 19 digs for SU.

Coming right back after a demanding five sets against Southwestern, the Tigers started slowly and split the first two sets against TLU. In the third set however, things began to click as CC hit .522 and grabbed the momentum for good.

Harris recorded her second double-double of the day with 14 kills and 20 digs, while Mullen reached double-digit kills for the sixth time with 10.

Glenna Yancey factored in four blocked shots as Colorado College held the Bulldogs to a .099 team hitting percentage.

Makenzie Griffin led the Bulldogs with 14 kills, while Bryten Mitchan added 13.

Colorado College, which leads the SCAC with a 7-0 league record, returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 4, when the Tigers visit Division II Colorado Christian University for a non-conference match.
