Box Score Colorado College utilized a dominant second-half performance at both ends of the field to defeat Emerson College, 22-11, on Tuesday afternoon at Stewart Field.
After battling to a 9-9 deadlock after 30 minutes, the Tigers erupted for 13 goals in the second half. At the same time, the CC defense turned up the pressure and allowed only two scores after the break.
"We were flat in the first half," head coach
Susan Stuart said. "We talked about what we needed to change at halftime, and the biggest thing was play with more energy. That allowed us to turn things around in the second half."
Coming out of halftime, Colorado College erupted for four goals in a little more than three minutes to take a 13-9 lead.
After Meredith Weber scored her team-leading fourth tally for the Bears, CC answered with four more goals and extended its lead to 17-10 when junior attacker
Annie DeFrino forced a turnover and struck for the last of her five scores.
A marker from Anna Welch trimmed the Tigers' advantage to six, however Colorado College tacked on five more goals to eclipse the 20-point mark for the third time in four games.CC won 24 of 33 draw controls and enjoyed a 29-22 edge in ground balls. The extra possessions turned into a 47-26 advantage in total shots.

Steph Kelly and senior midfielder
Mary Taussig each finished with five points for the Tigers. Kelly scored four goals and set up one more, while Taussig had three markers and a pair of assists. Freshman attacker
Eva King also struck for three goals.

Remy Wells played the final 30 minutes for the Tigers and made seven saves while earning her third victory of the season.
Senior midfielder
Sadie Cole led Colorado College with five ground balls, while Taussig and DeFrino caused two turnovers apiece.
"Emerson is resilient and scrappy, and they gave us a good fight," Stuart said. "Their goalkeeper was very good in the first half."
Kristina Modica made 11 of her 20 saves during the first 30 minutes to help the Bears keep pace with CC.
"Our depth allows us to utilize our entire roster, and that allows us to be successful when we play back-to-back games," Stuart said.
Colorado College's depth will be tested again this weekend when it plays three games in less than 26 hours.
The Tigers will put their 4-0 record on the line when they face Linfield College and Pacific University in back-to-back games on Saturday. CC completes the road trip at George Fox University on Sunday.
