Box Score    Â
Aaron Maslow struck for an unassisted goal with 57 seconds remaining in the first overtime to give the Colorado College men's lacrosse team a heart-stopping 7-6 victory at Elizabethtown College on Friday afternoon.
Â
Maslow ran a two-man play with fellow sophomore midfielder
Tyler Borko, but when the Blue Jay defense denied the first option, Maslow came off a pick on the right side and whistled a shot past sophomore goaltender Tom Mahoney into the top right corner.
Â
Elizabethtown built a 6-3 cushion with 13:52 remaining in the game and looked to be command after Mike Scafano and Mike DiGenova scored 70 seconds apart. Scafano struck for his team-leading second tally of the game with just two seconds to play in the third quarter, and then DiGenova gave the Blue Jays their largest lead 1:08 into the fourth.
Â
Senior attacker
Robbie Stern ignited the Tiger rally when he put a bouncing shot just under the crossbar with 10:57 to play, and then junior midfielder
Daniel Lunghamer, who hit the crossbar four minutes earlier, cut CC's deficit to 6-5 with an unassisted goal at the 3:16 mark.
Â
After sophomore
Ben Schwaeber won the ensuing faceoff, Maslow leveled the score with an unassisted tally with 2:02 remaining.
Â
Elizabethtown had a chance to win the game during the final minute, but
Andrew Harwood stopped DiGenova's blast from the right wing for one of his 15 saves. The sophomore goaltender stopped double-digit shots for the seventh time this season.
Â
Both goaltenders came up big early in the extra session. Harwood turned aside Michael Hofstedt's effort 16 seconds into overtime, and then Mahoney stopped a shot by freshman attackman
Boe Gold 34 seconds later.
Â
Senior defender
Riley Hoffman caused a turnover by Andrew Watts with 1:22 left in overtime to give Colorado College their final possession.    Â
Â
Maslow's game winner extended CC's winning streak to 11 games, the longest under head coach
Sean Woods. The Tigers also are 4-0 in overtime since Woods took control of the program in 2012.
Â
Schwaeber won seven of nine faceoffs to help Colorado College finish with a 10-6 advantage.
Â
CC also finished with a 27-24 edge in ground balls, with
Parker Woo leading all players with five.
Â
Mahoney was spectacular in goal, stopping 20 shots for the Blue Jays.
Â
Colorado College, which improved to 11-1, wraps up its two-game swing on the East Coast on Sunday at New Jersey's Montclair State University.
