Â
Robbie Stern, who graduated in May with a degree in political science, was recognized for his accomplishments in the classroom and on the field by being named a USILA/Nike Scholar All-American.
Â
Stern, who compiled a 3.48 grade-point average, was one of only 76 Division III student-athletes to earn the honor.
Â
Stern recorded career highs of 50 goals, 23 assists and 73 points while leading Colorado College to a 13-2 record and the program's sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship. He became just the third player in program history to record 50 goals in a season when he scored twice at Cabrini College in the NCAA Tournament.
Â
The three-year starting attackman recorded a season-high six goals during the 15-8 victory at Whittier College on April 7. It was one of five games in which he recorded at least seven points.
Â
Stern produced three goals and four points in the 14-10 win over the Poets on April 28 as CC reclaimed possession of the Locker-Stabler Cup for the seventh time in eight years.
Â
The native of Lafayette, Calif., finished his career ranked seventh in program history with 129 career goals, 11th with 179 points and 18th with 50 assists.Â
Â
Stern's accomplishments on campus were just as impressive.
Â
A three-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Stern served as chair of the 2018 Quony Cup, the all-campus soccer tournament that honors the legacy of two former Colorado College student athletes and donates all proceeds to the American Cancer Society. He also organizes volunteers for SAAC events like Parents Night Out.
Â
Stern also was a member of CC's President's Council, which is a group of students who serve in an advisory role to the President of the college as well as ambassadors for the college. The council meets with the President and/or various college and community leaders at least once per block.
To qualify for the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's highest academic award, a nominee must be a senior with a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. He also must be an All-American, a member of a North-South All-Star team or an outstanding league or conference player.
Finally, recipients will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution and to college lacrosse both on and off the field.Â
Â
The USILA's Scholar All-America Program was established in 1989 to recognize student-athletes from member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities.
