CC Earns 22nd-Consecutive NCAA Tournament Berth

2019 NCAA Volleyball Bracket

The Colorado College volleyball team earned the program's 22nd consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship and will face West Region rival Whitworth University in a first-round match on Friday, Nov. 15, at 12:30 p.m. ET at Emory University in Atlanta.

It marks the second year in a row the Tigers will begin their drive for a national championship in the state of Georgia. Last year, CC played at Berry College in Mount Berry, where the Tigers defeated Washington and Lee University before falling in the second round to Emory, which went on to win the national championship.

The last time Colorado College competed in a regional at Emory, the Tigers posted victories over Maryville College and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps before falling to the Eagles in the 2013 regional final.

Colorado College reached the 30-win mark for the ninth time in the last 11 years and the 11th time in program history with Saturday's four-set victory over Southwestern University. The Tigers dropped a four-set decision to Trinity University in Sunday's SCAC championship match.

The Tigers, who enter the postseason with a 30-4 record, are making the program's 29th overall appearance in the NCAA tournament. CC, which advanced to the Elite 8 in 2009, owns an all-time NCAA tournament record of 19-28, including a 15-21 mark during the first 21 years of Rick Swan's tenure as head coach.

The five-time SCAC Coach of the Year eclipsed the 600-victory mark on Oct. 11 with a three-set win over Randolph-Macon College.

Whitworth University (20-5) earned an automatic berth by winning the Northwest College regular-season championship with a 14-2 record.

The Pirates and Colorado College played earlier this season in the Pikes Peak Challenge, with the Tigers posting a 25-14, 25-20, 25-14 victory on Sept. 14.

Friday's winner faces either Berry College (26-5) or Maryville College (23-4) in a semifinal match on Saturday. On the other side of the regional bracket, Notre Dame (Md.) (25-3) faces Emory (29-2), while Birmingham-Southern College (24-6) meets Transylvania University (27-4).
