Thanks to some strong performances in the 10,000-meter run and 3,000-meter steeplechase, the Colorado College men found themselves fourth in the team standings after opening-day action at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Championships in Conway, Ark.

The Tigers picked up 13 points in the 10K as Dan Kraft (33:25.50) and Robbie Caseria (34:28.83) claimed second and fourth place, respectively.

They earned 10 more in the steeplechase with three top-seven showings. Max Gerken paced the CC trio, taking fourth with a time of 9:54.00. Michael Dougan was sixth with a 9:59.16 clocking, while Ben Taber was seventh at 10:01.59. All three were season bests.

The two events were among six that produced final scores on Friday. The meet, hosted by Hendrix College, will conclude on Saturday.

By finishing among the top three in the 10K, Kraft garnered All-SCAC honors.

Colorado College's 23 points is two more than fifth-place Trinity University. DePauw leads the men's standings with 57, followed by Centre with 51 and Rhodes with 43.

The CC women are tied for eighth with three points so far scored by Hannah Concannon in the long jump. Concannon took sixth place with a leap of 17 feet, 2 1/4 inches.
