CC Rolls Over Thunder

Box Score Senior midfielders Henri Halle and Taylor Paul each scored three goals and set up one more to power Colorado College to a 19-5 victory over Trine University on Thursday afternoon at Washburn Field.

In a game in which CC struck like lightning, the Thunder was unable to make much noise. The end result a fourth consecutive win for the Tigers who improved to 4-1 on the season.

After Trine leveled the score at 1-1 with a man-up tally by junior attackman G.T. Youpel, Colorado College reeled off 10 consecutive goals to take complete control of the contest.

Junior attackman Robert Prior got the ball rolling with a pair of blistering darts from the left side, then Halle struck 23 seconds later with the extra man later to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead.

Paul increased CC's cushion to four with an underhand shot to the upper left corner, and Halle added what proved to be the game winner with 3:24 to play in the opening frame.

Sophomore attackman Austin Davie put on a show in the second quarter, setting up three goals before striking for one of his own. Davie's most electric assist of the night was a pass from the left side of the goal to his brother, senior attackman Dylan Davie, who streaked down the slot and put a shot past TU's freshman goalkeeper Travis Lores.

Austin Davie also set up sophomore attackman Jack McCormick's leaping one-timer at the edge of the crease with 5:45 to play in the second quarter. Less than a minute later, he took a pass from sophomore attackman Stephen Petersilge, turned and fired a laser past Lores.

Dylan finished with two goals and two assists to give the Davie brothers three goals and six assists on the day.

Freshman attackman Sam Dardani and sophomore midfielder Brad Hale also scored twice for the Tigers, who got at least one goal from 11 players and a point from 14.

Colorado College recorded a 51-26 advantage in total shots and a 37-18 margin in ground balls. It marked the second time this season CC has launched more than 50 shots in a game.

Freshman midfielder Jackson Kaplan won 12 of 16 face-offs and grabbed a game-high four ground balls.

The Tigers pressured the Thunder into 26 turnovers and Trine converted on only 10 of 20 clearing attempts.

Senior Jack Roos recorded five saves during his 45 minutes in goal for CC. Freshman Brice Tucker steered aside two shots during the final 15 minutes.

Junior attackman Paul Carlquist was involved in four of the Thunder's five goals.

Lores stopped only five of the 19 shots he faced in the first half. Classmate Ryan Nelson finished with seven saves during the final 30 minutes.

Colorado College plays host to Berry College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
