Box Score 2 Despite winning its first match of the day in a 3-0 sweep of Schreiner University, No. 6 Colorado College dropped its final match of the day, 3-2, to No. 18 Trinity University on Saturday during the final weekend of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season action in Kerrville, Texas.

Lizzy Counts nearly earned her first triple-double of her career when she tied her career-high 49 assists and added nine digs and a career-high nine kills in CC's tough matchup against Trinity.

Abbe Holtze led the attack against Trinity with 20 kills and picked up a season-high 20 digs to earn her 15th double-double of the season. Junior outside hitter
Reagan Folaron also earned a season high with 18 digs.

Trinity held set point in the first set at 24-23, but a kill by Holtze tied the set at 24-24. Trinity held set point twice more at 25-24 and 26-25, however, an attack error and a kill by Counts would hand CC set point at 27-26. Three consecutive service errors would tie the game at 28-28 before sophomore middle hitter
Myca Steffey-Bean would slam down a kill and a bad set by Trinity produced the Tigers 30-28 victory.

CC held Trinity to a .000 hitting percentage in the second set, forcing nine errors in 33 attempts with just nine kills, to earn a 25-22 victory and take a 2-0 lead.

Trinity (20-6, 11-1 SCAC) fought back in the third and fourth set, hitting its best marks of the match on a .333 attack percentage and a .415 attack percentage, respectively. Trinity tied the match with a 25-20 third-set win and a 25-16 fourth-set win to send the match to the fifth and final set.

CC held a 9-7 lead on a solo block by freshman middle hitter
Marguerite Spaethling, but a kill by Trinity's Madeline McKay helped spark an 8-3 run and hand Trinity the 15-12 victory.

The Tigers' hitting was dominate in their 26-24, 25-11, 25-17 victory over Schreiner in their first match of the day. CC hit a .346 attack percentage with 47 kills in 107 attempts with just 10 errors. This was the fifth time that the Tigers have hit over a .300 attack percentage this season.

Holtze led the attack against the Mountaineers (3-20, 0-11 SCAC) with 13 kills, while Steffey-Bean added a season-high 10 kills on a .600 attack percentage with only one error in 15 attempts.

The defense was led by freshman libero
Anna Gurolnick, who had a combined 37 digs on the day, with 13 digs. Counts added 34 assists and eight digs, while Spaethling led the team with four blocks.

Colorado College (22-4, 9-3 SCAC) returns to action on Sunday as it begins the day against Texas Lutheran University at 10 a.m. CT and finishes with No. 4 Southwestern University at noon CT.
