Abbe Holtze and freshman middle hitter
Marguerite Spaethling combined for 21 kills to help lead No. 8 Colorado College over Centenary, 3-0, on Sunday morning in Irving, Texas.

Holtze led the team with 11 kills, while adding 14 digs on defense to earn her third double-double of the weekend and 11th of the season. Spaethling added 10 kills on a team-high .500 hitting percentage with just one error in 18 attempts.

CC held Centenary to a .074 hitting percentage to earn the victory. With the win, the Tigers improved to 17-3 on the season and 8-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Centenary took an 11-7 lead midway through the first set when Hailey Lawson hit a kill, but Holtze answered on back-to-back kills to help ignite an 11-5 run to give the Tigers an 18-16 lead. CC finished the set on a 7-3 run to win 25-19.

Keli Sherwood each hit a kill to spark an 8-4 run. Spaethling ended the set on a kill from freshman setter

Counts orchestrated CC's offense with 38 assists to tie her career high. Freshman
Anna Gurolnick backed up the defense with a team-best 19 digs and served three aces to lead the team.

Junior middle hitter
Glenna Yancey and Sherwood had three and two blocks, respectively, in the third set to  help the Tigers hold the Ladies to a -.143 hitting percentage. CC gave up just four kills on 28 attempts, while forcing eight attack errors to take the set in a commanding fashion, 25-12. Â

Centenary (3-18, 2-8 SCAC) was led by Lawson with seven kills and 12 digs. Desiree Frey added eight digs, while Allison Lazewski contributed with nine assists.

Colorado College will return home to host the Pikes Peak Challenge on Oct. 14-15 in Reid Arena. The Tigers host a pair of nationally ranked programs during the tournament: No. 14 Eastern University and No. 23 Millikin University. CC begins the tournament against Luther College at 2 p.m. on Friday.
