Box Score The third-ranked Colorado College volleyball team fell short in its first road matches of the season, dropping a pair of matches to Trinity University and No. 5 Southwestern University in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon in Sherman, Texas.

Senior outside hitter
Abbe Holtze led the team with a combined 24 kills on the day, while adding 25 digs on defense. Junior middle hitter
Glenna Yancey added 17 kills and a team-high eight blocks.

The Tigers dropped the first match of the day to Trinity, which is currently receiving votes in the national poll, 3-1.

Trinity (9-3, 3-1 SCAC) won the first two sets 25-21, 25-20, but CC came back in the third set with a 25-22 win. The Tigers were unable to tie the match as Trinity took the fourth set, 25-21.

Holtze led the team with 17 kills and added 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the season against TU. Freshman setter
Lizzy Counts also picked up a double-double with 19 assists and 13 digs for her seventh of the season.

No. 5 Southwestern (15-0, 5-0 SCAC) proved too much for CC in its final match of the day, falling 26-24, 25-16, 25-13. The Pirates hit a .256 attack percentage with 47 kills on 121 attempts with just 16 errors.

Before coming into the weekend, the Tigers had held their opponents to a combined .042 hitting percentage, however, in the pair of losses CC allowed a combined .199 attack percentage.

Marguerite Spaethling led the team against Southwestern with eight kills each. Holtze also added seven kills and 11 digs.

Colorado College (11-2, 3-2 SCAC) looks to bounce back tomorrow with a pair of matches against Texas Lutheran University at 10 a.m. CT and Schreiner University at Noon CT on Sunday.
