The Colorado College cross country teams return to action by hosting the Ted Castaneda Classic this Saturday, Sept. 27, at North Monument Valley Park, beginning at 9 a.m.

Runners from Air Force, Chadron State, Trinidad State and Colorado Northwestern Community College will join CC at the Ted Castaneda Classic. The men's 8K race will start at 9 a.m., followed by the women's 6K race at 10 a.m.

Ribbons to Celebrate 50 Years of Women's Athletics
CC's teams will wear Tiger striped ribbons to mark the 50
th Anniversary of Women's Athletics at Colorado College. The school is embarking on a year-long celebration to recognize the school's past and present female student-athletes, coaches and administrators.

Paced by a second-place finish and school-record tying time from senior
Alison Mueller-Hickler, the Colorado College team tied its best result ever at the season-opening UCCS Rust Buster Meet with a second-place result on Sept. 6, in Monument Valley Park.

Mueller-Hickler, who posted CC's best individual result ever at the Rust Buster, posted a 5K time of 17 minutes, 34 seconds, equaling the school record set by Gretchen Grindle during the 1999 Division III Cross Country Championships.

Charlie Flint followed in ninth place with a time of 17:58, while senior

Ellie Ottem (19:00) and junior Mary Cate Kiser (19:08) placed 23

Will Shuflit, the Colorado College men's team opened the 2025 season with a third-place result at the UCCS Rust Buster Meet.

Shuflit's runner-up finish is the second-best ever by a Tiger at the meet as Jackson Brainerd won the event in 2010. Shuflit, a 2024 Division III All-American, finished the 8K race in a time of 24:53.9. Sophomore
Diego Escalante followed in 23
rd-place with a time of 26:08.0.

The team's third-place finish is the best at the Rust Buster Meet since placing second in 2016. Colorado College was the only Division III school at the meet.Â

The women's team jumped two spots to No. 21 this week's USTFCCCA Division III National Rankings, while the men are ranked No. 25.

Mueller-Hickler, Shuflit Earned SCAC Weekly Honors
Following the UCCS Rust Buster Meet, Mueller-Hickler and Shuflit were named the SCAC Women's and Men's Runners of the Week, respectively.
